Some days words just flow out of my fingertips and onto the computer screen in an effortless cascade. Today, not so much. In fact, as I sit here trying to form a few coherent sentences, it’s as excruciating as if every word is a hair being plucked from my skin with tweezers. Not fun.
But, since I am very dedicated to this blog, I am here trying to tell you about my new favourite grill.
My son and I spotted this disposable grill at Shopper’s Drug Mart the other day. We couldn’t believe that the regular price was just $3.49 so we bought one immediately. We were sure that once we tried it out that we’d be able to reveal to the world that this device was a piece of crap.
Well, guess what? We were 100% wrong. This grill that costs less than the grande latte I bought on the way home from the drug store worked like a charm. It had lots of heat: I started it at 11:50 am and at 2:45 pm it was still warm enough to melt chocolate or keep a cheese dip molten and ready for tortilla chips to be dunked.
Will you buy one of these grills? If so, what will you make on it?
Get out! I haven’t seen the $3.49 grill, but it looks like the perfect thing for picnics and tailgating. Definitely going to keep an eye out.
I bet in the US it’s $2.99. I’d definitely take one to the beach or the park. Best bargain I’ve found in a dog’s age. And, that’s a while.
Brilliant. It goes to show, too, that you can make a grill out of pretty much anything that can withstand the heat.
For a picnic or camping this looks ideal. When simple new ideas like this hit the band wagon I sometimes wonder why no one has marketed them before. Too easy I guess but someone is taking a whole bunch of $3.49’s to the bank!
Those sausages were great, too!
Had a nice smokey flavour…
Tim mentioned that they used to sell those (or something similar) at his Petro but for a lot more than $3.49…
My first thought was that I won’t likely buy one because I have a gas grill already and don’t camp. But sometimes I go to the cottage and there’s not grill there. This would be a perfect, inexpensive, lightweight solution. So… I might consider it.
Nice find!
Great idea! Not sure when I’d use one, but I’ll keep it in mind next time we’ll be going somewhere without grilling supplies.
I found this grill at Shopper’s a couple of months ago and I love it! I grilled two steaks right away and it worked like a charm. Best deal I’ve found in a while!
Me, too. I have two of them in the garage for ‘ just in case’ grilling opportunities.
